Building resilience to adverse events in our rural communities is key to lessening the impact on our people, animals, infrastructure, and the wider economy.

To do this we need to plan ahead and be ready. While we cannot plan for the nature or impact of every event, nor can we eliminate them, we can plan and be prepared.

Being prepared involves building greater awareness and flexibility for farmers, growers and rural communities to be able to identify and highlight their risks, make suitable plans and prepare for any future events which leads to safer and more efficient responses when an adverse events occur.

We do this by providing knowledge and advice alongside practical tools and programs to deliver greater on-farm resilience and preparedness within farmers and rural communities throughout New Zealand.

The following will help with your individual planning, remember that being prepared is a good emergency response plan.
